The last couple of days have been scorching hot here, with temperatures over 30°C in the shade. Get this: the thermometer in the hallway at work showed a crazy 41.5°C! Inside the office, it was a pleasant 27°C. Thank goodness for the air conditioning! (Though I'll probably end up getting sick from it, as usual. These drastic temperature swings never agree with me).
By the evening, it had cooled down enough for us to go on a family bike ride. I tossed my camera in my fanny pack, and off we went!
The ride was short, so this post will be too.
A while back on Substack, I wrote about why it's worth photographing the same places over and over again. Well, here are a few examples to back up that idea. These places are alive and constantly changing. A photo taken in the exact same spot a year ago can look completely different today - the light is different, the composition changes.
Oh, and check this out: someone left a trailer here, and it actually looks pretty cool. [Update: by the time I came back, someone had already parked a car next to it, and it just wasn't as cool anymore].
Next, we headed to the park, where the kids (especially our youngest) love to feed the ducks with seeds (never bread!). Besides the ducks, the usual "flying rats" were there, along with some Chinese geese.
After feeding, we started on our way back. Turns out, there's a tree climbing competition in the park this weekend. I might try to drop by today or tomorrow to snap a few photos, but to be honest, I already have other plans. We'll see.
And for the finale, a surprise. I got off my bike for one last photo, walked closer to the water, and then, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted my final shot. This chair, standing there so cheekily by the shore. Apparently, the "Garbage Goblin" had been fishing. Lucky me!
And that's all for today. Thanks for reading, and see you soon!
It has been scorching all over, it seems. I was laughing at your interesting parade of birds... what an odd grouping of various species over there. Lovely images as always!
